1. How do I get to Hotel Grano de Oro?

Hotel Grano de Oro is located just 20 minutes away from the Juan Santamaría International Airport. In Costa Rica we do not use street signs to give directions as the streets are not usually labeled.  Addresses and directions are given using landmarks and distances. GPS coordinates: 9° 55. 989 N, – 84° 05. 406 W.

Directions to the hotel: If you are driving from the SJO airport to Hotel Grano de Oro

  1. Get on Highway #1 and follow the signs that say SAN JOSÉ.
  2. You will reach a large intersection with a Nissan Dealership and large park (La Sabana) on the right hand side. Go straight through this intersection.
  3. Turn left at the next set of lights which will bring you onto Paseo Colon.
  4. Drive 7 blocks, you will see Pizza Hut on your left hand side, turn right.
  5. Continue 2 blocks and turn right.
  6. Drive 1 block and turn right again.
  7. Take your next right and you will arrive at the hotel.

2. Do you offer a shuttle service?

No.  We do not offer a shuttle service, but we can arrange a private transportation service for a charge.  This service can pick you up or take you to either of the airports in the San Jose area and can also be arranged for private tours and trips. If you would like to book this service or for more information on prices, please contact us by phone or email.  If you would like to arrange an airport pick up, please provide your flight information.

There are also orange taxis available at the airport and they know the Hotel Grano de Oro location.

3. What are the Grano de Oro check-in and check-out times?

Our check out time is at 12 noon.

Our check in time is at 2pm but we often have rooms available earlier. Please let us know your arrival time and we will do our best to accommodate you.

4. Is breakfast included in the room rate?

No.  Breakfast is not included in the room rate. We offer a la carte breakfast service in our restaurant from 7am until 11am daily.

If you are leaving early and would like a box breakfast, this can be ordered in the restaurant before 9pm the evening prior to your departure.  Your box breakfast will be ready for pickup in reception the next morning.

You will also find a coffee station at the lobby of the hotel from 4am and until 7am.  Coffee makers are also available in most rooms or upon request at reception.

5. Is smoking permitted on the hotel premises?

No.  We do not permit smoking on hotel property.  Costa Rica has passed very strict non-smoking legislation and it is prohibited to smoke in public places. Thank you for understanding.

6. Can I exchange money at the hotel?

Yes. We do offer a currency exchange service at a slightly lower rate than the banks.  We can exchange USD and Euro.

7. Do you offer a luggage storage service?

Yes. We offer luggage storage while you travel within the country.  Feel free to leave any bags you don’t need at reception and we will keep them in a secure storage room until your return.

8. Is it safe to drink tap water in the hotel?

Yes. All water and ice in the hotel, restaurant and rooms is purified and safe to drink.  The Hotel Grano de Oro is equipped with a top quality water purification system and we test the quality of our water regularly.

9. Do you have secure parking?

Yes. We offer complimentary 24-hour secure parking.

10. Do I need a reservation for dinner?

Yes, we recommend making reservations as our restaurant is often busy especially during dinner.  Reservations can be made prior to arrival by phone or email or at reception during your stay.

11. What is the voltage in Costa Rica? Do we need to carry an adapter?

The voltage is 110 V, with an American style plug (flat connector); you will require an adapter to connect European appliances.
