Responsible Hospitality

Throughout the hotel we take steps to minimize our environmental footprint through responsible energy and water use, efficient lighting and equipment, and operational practices designed to reduce waste. These measures allow us to maintain the high standards of a luxury boutique hotel while operating with greater care for the environment. Equally important is our commitment to preserving the historic character of our building. By restoring and maintaining this architectural landmark rather than replacing it, we celebrate San José’s heritage while embracing a more sustainable approach to hospitality.

Celebrating Costa Rica

Costa Rica’s culture and craftsmanship are an essential part of the experience we share with our guests. Many of the furnishings throughout the hotel, including the furniture in our guest rooms, are crafted in Costa Rica by local artisans. Original artwork from Costa Rican artists can also be found throughout the property, reflecting the country’s vibrant creative culture. Our restaurant highlights seasonal ingredients and works with local farmers and suppliers whenever possible, showcasing the rich flavors of the region. In our gift shop, we feature exclusively Costa Rican products, supporting local artisans and producers while offering guests meaningful souvenirs that reflect the creativity and traditions of the country.

Community Commitment

Responsible tourism must also support the community around us. Hotel Grano de Oro is proud to work with Casa Luz, a local organization that provides support and opportunities for young mothers and their children. Through fundraising initiatives, events and ongoing collaboration, we are honored to contribute to the important work Casa Luz does in our community.
