Coffee tour

If you are a coffee lover and you want to learn about the history and process of the coffee in Costa Rica, this tour is the perfect option for you, you will learn all the secrets of that delicious cup of coffee.

Tropical Rainforest & Chocolate Adventure

This San Jose tour will get you up close and personal to nature and noms, with a hike through the rainforest and a chocolate tour of the local cacao plantation. Tortuga Island

If you want to enjoy a day of relaxation, Tortuga Island is a great option.  This tour takes you to a beautiful island in the Gulf of Nicoya onboard a catamaran.  Onboard, you will enjoy live music, fresh tropical fruit and drinks, and beautiful landscapes.  Once you arrive at the white sand beach on the island you can opt for sun bathing and relaxation or choose from a variety of activities such as: snorkeling, a banana boat ride, volleyball, etc.

What to Bring: Casual, light, comfortable clothes, swimwear, sun block, camera, sun glasses, hat or cap (tight fitting so it won’t blow off), light weight long sleeved shirt, rubber sandals / tennis or boat shoes (high heels or hard sole shoes are not permitted), towels.

Doka Estate Coffee Tour, Poas Volcano & La Paz Waterfall Gardens

Visit a Volcano, Coffee Plantation and Waterfall Garden all in one day! First stop will be the Doka Coffee Estate for a delicious breakfast and coffee tour of an actual coffee plantation. After the coffee tour continue to the Poás Volcano where after a short walk you can admire the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles.

Following the visit to the volcano we will continue to the La Paz Water Fall Garden for a scrumptious lunch and tour. As we arrive to La Paz, we will walk through a trail, leading to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. For those not wishing to hike to the waterfalls there are many other activities to keep busy with – inside the park you can visit the hummingbird gallery, the serpentarium, the bird house, the butterfly garden and the frog’s exhibit; fun to be enjoyed by those of all ages.

Rainforest Aerial Tram Atlantico

Experience the thrill of being in the middle of the rainforest and at the top of the canopy by taking an aerial tram tour; in this tour you will enjoy the scenic views of the rain forest from different points, get to see some plants and wildlife and learn about Costa Rica ecosystems.

Day Tour 6Irazú Volcano, Lankaster Gardens & Orosi Valley

Irazu Volcano is one of the highest peaks in the country, 11,000 feet above sea level.  At the top the main craters can be seen and on a clear day it might be possible to see both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans while walking the moon-like terrain of the crater.  Learn about the history of Costa Rica by visiting one of the most scenic regions of Costa Rica: Orosi Valley, a beautiful valley crossed by the Reventazón River.  Here you will find the ruins of the oldest church in Costa Rica built in 1793.  Then move on to see the beauty of tropical orchids, collections of bromeliads, bamboos, epiphytes and other wonderful plants from various areas of Costa Rica at the Lankester Botanical Gardens.

Day Tour 4

Grecia & Sarchí

This relaxing and enjoyable tour begins with a drive through coffee and sugar cane plantations to reach the town of Grecia.  Here you will see the famous metal church of the Lady of Mercy and it’s beautiful architecture with high ceilings, ornate stained glass windows, and classical lines. Then the tour will take you to the handicraft capital of Costa Rica: Sarchí, where you will visit an oxcart factory.  Costa Rica’s oxcarts were once used to transport coffee beans over the mountains to the coast. The ornate carts come in various sizes and are splendidly decorated with intense colors, such as oranges and reds. This is a great place to find wonderful souvenirs of your trip.

Private tours

For any destination you want to visit, you have the option of taking a private tour. We can arrange a private driver who speaks English and can take you wherever you want, to points of interest, shopping or just to see the scenery.

A couple of recommended spots a private driver could take you are:

1. Take a pineapple tour

Visit an operating pineapple farm, trip through the farm in the comfort of a unique trailer, learn about the history of the pineapple and enjoy freshly cut pineapple and juice.  For 13 years, Corsicana farm has been dedicated to pineapple production; their farm has an extension of 3200 acres and is divided into 4 different projects: conventional production, organic production, ornamental productions and protected areas.

2. Spend your day at La Paz Waterfall Gardens

La Paz Waterfall Gardens is a private park where you will have many things to do; you can spend a whole day in this wonderful place. Some of the attractions are: spectacular waterfalls, the country’s largest Butterfly Observatory, Hummingbird Garden, Serpentarium, Frog Exhibit, Tica House, Trout Lake and many bird watching areas. They offer buffet lunch at the Colibries Restaurant with multiple selections of traditional Costa Rican dishes.

Other activities

If you are in our hotel for a short time and you don’t have enough time to take a tour, we recommend the following activities:

  • Relax and unwind at our bar/lounge. We have an extensive drink list with many delicious beverages including: Champagne Cocktails, Martinis, Virgin Cocktails, etc
  • Read a good book, we have a small bookcase for book exchange
  • Have a relaxing massage or other special treatment in our massage room
  • Enjoy the evening resting on our Jacuzzi terrace
  • Take a walk to La sabana Park, just a few blocks from the hotel
  • Finish the day off with a leisurely dinner in our tropical Victorian influenced restaurant
